My game isn't responding to my voice commands. What do I do?

First, make sure you have voice commands enabled. This option can be found from the Main Menu. Select "Options," then "Game Options" and then "Voice Control." Make sure the box next to "Voice Control" is filled in.

Once they're on, you may need to calibrate your Kinect to work with voice commands. This is done in the Kinect Tuner using the following steps:

  1. Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller.
  2. Select "Kinect Tuner" from the menu that pops up.
  3. Select "Audio" from the three options.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Make sure that you speak clearly and loud enough to be heard - no need to yell, but don't whisper! If you have loud music playing nearby, or are in a busy party setting, the Kinect may not understand who it's supposed to be taking commands from. If you've got a loud party going on, this may be one time it's easier just to turn voice commands off.
