Is A City Sleeps a rhythm game?

While music is integral to everything that happens in A City Sleeps, it is not a rhythm action (beatmatch) game. In the game, your shots fire in time with the soundtrack for each level, but you are not required to hit the fire button on time with the music. The musical nature of the game lends itself to easier learning and memorization of enemy spawns and bullet patterns.
